NuFACE + Skincare I’m Trying.
So I’m trying a few new things this week and wanted to share them with you. We love makeup around here but of course great makeup starts with what?
Great skincare.
The NuFACE Trinity Facial Toning device is in here but we’ll get into that later.
First up is the Myrtle Leaf micellar gel by Ustawi.
Have you ever tried a micellar gel?
So far I’m loving that you don’t need cotton pads to use it.
I work it into my skin then use my Face Halo to clean it off. Next step for me is my cleanser.
Tip: If I have a super beat face that day, I start with an oil or balm before micellar water. So that’s 3 steps on a day like that.
Back to this micellar gel.
Key ingredients and claims:
Aside from myrtle leaf to help detoxify, it also contains baobab fruit which apparently has vitamin C but I’m not sure how that is super beneficial in this step of skincare. It also has something called biosaccharide g4 to help against environmental stress and of course micelles to dissolve and trap impurities.
Earlier this year I tried another micellar gel. It was my first experience with a gel texture in this category. It looked so cool and I wanted to love it but I immediately had to rinse it off because of how much it irritated my skin.
Needless to say, I was hesitant but so far this new one is working out.
The 2nd product I’m trying is a retinoic eye cream. Have you been hearing about this lately as much as I have? Maybe I’m late to the party.
I received one from Peach & Lily a while ago but I’m slow to try new skincare. Finally cracked it open and so far I’m excited. Most eye cream does not work for me. I tend to find my under eye area breaks out in tiny bumps. It can be a cream, gel, whatever.
Sagittarius here, so you know I’m a optimist!
I keep trying anyway.
There was one other eye cream I was able to use and it’s nice but I need something that’s ready to do a little more labor, know what I mean?
Key ingredients and claims:
Bakuchiol, a retinol alternative - hydrates, improves look of wrinkles.
Rosehip seed oil -promotes cell rejuvenation, helps skin to appear brighter.
Ceramides - aids in preserving skin by creating a protective layer, preserves moisture, shields from environmental stressors.
Peach extract - skin firming.
I should take pictures and track my progress maybe?
If you know of any mind blowing retonoic type eye creams, drop them in the comments.
Last but not least, you’ve probably heard of this one. It’s the NuFace.
First, if you have any nerve issues or spinal issues, please consult with your doctor before trying a micro current device.
They can have side effects.
What is it?
A microcurrent device.
What it does:
Sends an electrical current that sends waves down to the facial muscles. It’s basically like face fitness.
Claims:
Lifts and tones the face.
Reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
My experience: It’s been a week. I have seen a little snatcheration but of course it’s only temporary. I haven’t timed it but from all the reviews I checked out to see if I was imagining things, these results last on average 6-8 hours.
Hey, I’m happy to see any level of face snatching and 6-8 hours is cute for a (virtual?) event or any moment that I’m alive and breathing to be honest.
On the lowest level, it feels like nothing is really happening but turned up to medium you definitely feel a whisper of that electric current.
By day 3 I was like let’s get it!
Highest level unlocked. Ok, this I feel!
Around the forehead the feeling is especially weird because you know, hair and electricity. Not to worry though, it’s a low level so while it’s a mild discomfort you’ll be fine.
If you’ve ever had a facial where they use that zappy high frequency tool with a tip that looks like a mini light bulb around your face, you’ve probably felt something similar before.
Lasting change is supposed to happen around the 2 month mark. At that point it’s recommended to drop the NuFace routine from 5 days a week to 2 days for maintenance.
I’ll keep you posted.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried any of these products or similar ones and what your experience has been.
Until next time.
