Makeup, Skincare, Mind & Body Check-in

It’s been one big long period of transition for most, if not all of us, since 2020.

Myself included. I leaned hard into rest in December, like the hardest.

Then I realized it was my first true fully stress free end of year break ever. Not a poor me moment, just an oh ya girl was hanging by an eyelash moment.

So what’s inspiring me right now?

Well first I’m in the NY Post! As a New Yorker, I’m kinda geeked. I love that I’m helping to promote makeup as an alternative to running under the knife for a beauty trend.

Now let’s get into a couple of podcasts!

Beauty & Career:

This episode of Life of a Makeup Artist with Erin Parsons features one of the most honest conversations you’ll ever hear. I don’t think you have to be in the business of beauty to appreciate the life lessons this episode is jam packed with. Bonus is getting to hear Erin’s story. Jaleesa asked all the questions we’d want answers to.

Relationships:

One of my favorite TikTok discoveries is Danielle Bayard Jackson and her Friend Forward podcast. It’s all about friendship. In this episode she talks about 4 Friendship Mindsets We’re Leaving In 2022. Her podcast covers everything from starting to maintaining and developing meaningful friendships.

By the way, add me to your contacts so you don’t miss these newsletters.

After my holiday treats rampage my skin was not impressed.

Needless to say the breakouts and winter dry skin hit hard. Not to mention the 10 days I spent away from my arsenal in Costa Rica.

You know when you’re on top of your wellness and skincare game but then you start feeling like it all happens naturally? Like you forget what it took?

Yup, that was me.

Blissful denial.

My saving grace for breakouts:

Hero Patches

I keep my skincare pretty simple. I may have a lot of products I can tap for different reasons, but I’m never using all of them at once.

Another hero of mine for years has been The Ordinary’s Mandelic Acid. It’s one of thee most gentle out there. I find it even more gentle than lactic, and I love lactic acid.

Moisture Surge: Elemis Pro Collagen Overnight Matrix. I definitely decanted this for my trips to make it travel friendly. It’s one of those products that you put on at night and can feel a difference the next morning.

Creator:

Saw this TikTok and immediately thought of you. Check it out to find out how Issa Rae’s HOORAE Media and Walmart have teamed up to help you. Through this partnership they aim to provide free resources to get you going on your creator journey.

What I’m watching: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15

Dreamy Escapism: Kid Cudi’s Entergalactic. It’s a dreamy animated love story, and like nothing you’ve seen before. From the music to the characters, it’s a work of art.

What I’m reading: We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers. I love Rachel. She’s one of the most relatable millionaires I’ve come across.

You can learn more about her in this CNCB Make It article.

Wellness discovery I’m exploring: FLVC’s Tonic. I bought it downtown in NYC at Pretty Well Beauty, a beautiful clean beauty and wellness shop my friend Jazmyn opened recently in the Oculus at World Trade Center.

Pretty Well Beauty’s site lists the benefits as:

  • Intestinal Health Support

  • Increase Energy Flow

  • Glowing Skin

  • Support Cognitive Health/Mood

  • Anti Bloating

  • Increase Collagen Production

  • Cellular Health + Regeneration

  • Increase Nutrient Absorption

  • Alkalizing

That’s all for now love. I hope you found something in here you’re excited about. If not, let me know what you wish you saw. I’d love to hear from you.
