Best Quarantine Workouts

I’m so excited to share these workouts I’ve been loving! There’s yoga, HIIT, stretching and more. The fitness space on Instagram, YouTube and in you apps store is a lot (lucky for us) but it can feel overwhelming to sift through.

Sometimes the thumbnail draws me in, but the set up is too distracting or the sound is terrible. Other times the approach isn’t the right fit for the way I like to train or the personality doesn’t gel for me. That’s the beauty of YouTube! There’s someone for everyone. I like to switch up my workouts depending on my mood and sometimes my energy and motivation levels.
For the quickest navigation with these channels, try going straight to the “Playlist” tab. Everything will be neatly categorized there.
Without further ado, here’s my list:

  1. Mr. and Mrs. Muscle: (HIIT)

The Vibe- This is a great channel if you like quick workouts - like a full body burn in less than 17 minutes or if you like designing your own workouts! You can choose a few of their super clean, pro quality videos which tend to be about 10 minutes long. Many have no voice over and simply start right away demonstrating the move before starting the timer. Pick a few body parts you want to focus on and mix and match for a unique and straight to the point sweat sesh. They share workouts on Instagram too.

  2. Chloe Ting: Chloe’s ab shredder is my favorite! I alternate between that and the 11 abs video. The Vibe- Usually done in a voiceover style, she offers body part specific workouts and full body workouts ranging from around 10 minutes up to 45 minutes. No equipment needed! Sometimes she will use a band like this: https://store.chloeting.com/products/resistance-bands Chloe gives more of a friend energy, and loves creating challenges and sharing other lifestyle related content. Very community oriented.

  3. Koboko Fitness: The Vibe - A certified personal trainer offering workouts, tips on how to correct common mistakes, stretches and other lifestyle related content focused on helping the viewer troubleshoot problem areas in their fitness and diet. Watching her video feels like getting advice from a friend. Beginner friendly videos available.

  4. Fitness Blender: The Vibe: A straightforward fitness channel that offers a variety of workouts. I find myself doing a Fitness Blender workout when I want to get completely annihilated! Haha, what can I say, I’m a fire sign. Recently I did a 90 minute workout on their channel. They’re doing the whole thing in real time and when they’re feeling it they aren’t afraid to let you know they’re in the trenches with you which is kinda fun. I found myself laughing sometimes when it was the hardest. They have great warm ups you can do before hopping into another workout. Always warm up ☺️.

  5. Christine Salus: (Silent Apartment Friendly HIIT) I got really into doing silent hiit workouts after putting on some grieving weight about 5 years ago. These types of workouts are ideal for us apartment dwellers! She has a variety of workouts and films them in her apartment. Her overall energy is chill and if she’s over it on the 3rd set of an exercise she definitely shares her pain, which I kinda love.

Another fun way I’ve been discovering new channels is by searching “Quarantine Workouts”. Sometimes I just wanna follow a workout from someone creating right now, ya know? It feels different somehow. By the time this is over I’ll probably have a new (longer) list of go to channels.

Instagram Live:

Workout with Naomi Campbell and her trainer Joe Holder (aka @ochosystem) This is a combo of getting your body moving and really just being a part of the queen’s world. I mean the fact that I can put “work out with Naomi Campbell” on my calendar is pretty cute!

I think it’s usually at noon but check with Naomi’s stories for the schedule here!

#TurnitoutwithTiler

Ever wanted to work out like a ballerina? Or at least with one? Well New York City Ballet principal dancer Tiler Peck is killing it with daily classes. She’s had guests like Debbie Allen, Misty Copeland, Lil Buck, and Sarah Jessica Parker!

Fitness Apps:

MelissaWoodHealth: I signed up for Melissa Wood’s app after following her on Instagram and it’s a very different fitness experience. The workouts mostly don’t require any equipment, some use a set of 1 pound weights/-a band and they’re low impact but high key not to be underestimated. I understand why ballerinas tend to gravitate towards her content. You’re not doing burpees but the burn is so real. I found that when my energy levels are low because, you know, hormones - her workouts are great because I can still feel accomplished without feeling totally depleted. It’s based on a mix of yoga, Pilates and ballet. At one point I was actually thinking burpees might be easier. She also has prenatal stuff.

She offers a free 7 day trial: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/melissa-wood-health/id1488181674

Sweat: If we’ve ever talked about fitness (pre-corona) You’ve heard me gush about the sweat app! It’s one of the cleanest/most organized apps I’ve seen. For the past 2 years it was my go to. All the trainers are women and they offer different styles of training. Right now there are 3 programs you can do at home plus 2 designed for post-pregnancy. I actually use the latter after my surgery last year. It’s $20 a month, but if you pay for a year upfront $119.99 it ends up being 50% less.
Full disclosure: I went on a subscription canceling spree a month ago. I’m still on the fence about bringing this one back while quarantined.

Nike Training Club: Nike is offering free workouts to help makeup fitness more accessible since gyms are closed. I haven’t tried it yet but Nike is pretty reliable when it comes to quality.

Yoga

Yoga With Adriene: If you’ve ever searched for a yoga video, you’ve probably come across an Adriene video. Her videos have themes like “Yoga for Vulnerability”, “Gut Health, and “Yoga for Suffering”. While she’s qualified and technical, she’s warm and almost spiritual but in a very relatable way. In January I did her 30 day program. She has a few 30 days of yoga programs on her channel. I loved it , because it felt like a curriculum and I never had to think of what kind of yoga I felt like doing.

Yoga With Kassandra: I looove Kassandra’s morning and bedtimes stretches. Most of her videos are less than 15 minutes long, though she does have some that go longer. I come back to this channel often for the stretches. After doing them I feel sooo goood!

She shares daily affirmations over Instagram along with yoga poses and videos on IGTV:
