Do This To Start Creating Content
People often tell me that it seems natural for me to be on camera. It absolutely wasn’t at first. I had a lot of mental blocks to work through. That’s why I was so excited to host this conversation.
This works for a few reasons, one of them being the total elimination of any barrier to start. It’s also based on the fact that our brains rely on environmental triggers.
You know those little things strategically placed at the check out line that inspire impulse purchases? To me it’s that mind game but one we play with ourselves to get the things we wanna get done checked off our lists.
We have to tweak our environments to support our intentions. The more steps there are between us and what we intend to do, the less likely we are to do them.
Since we know that discipline is built like a muscle—and can likewise be worn out—environmental changes might be useful in getting ourselves to do difficult tasks regularly..
Knowing where I’d film was a game changer. At first figuring out the best place to set up can be a little clunky, but the more we test the better we are at adjusting. It’s all a process and we’re always learning. Once you start to see your growth, it inspires you to become even more invested in the process of learning and testing.
One word comes up over an over is PERFECTION.
It’s it high fashion/editorial procrastination and self sabotage. Many of us have fallen prey to this. It’s giving avoidance with a splash of elitism.
What’s funny is it never seems like that, because it actually feels really crappy to have ideas in us that we don’t honor and develop. I believe that it feels terrible because we’re living out of alignment. That nagging feeling that we should be doing something we actually want to do but we’re not doing is a confidence killer.
It’s a quiet burden many carry.
Not only is it self defeating but it moves us away from the one thing that would get us closer to that vision of perfection and that one thing is ACTION.
With a little prep, a bit of planning and a lot of patience coupled with self-compassion anyone can move from fear to creation.
There was so much more packed into this conversation.
We’ll definitely be having more. I’ll continue sharing reminders with you on my Instagram stories so you don’t miss them.
Talk soon.
