Snail Slime In Skin Care

Snail mucin, a love affair.

Let’s start with receipts 👀

It all started in 2017:

This love blossomed during a time when I was heavy on The Ordinary train, playing chemist in my apartment.
When my skin wasn’t loving something in my routine I started to slowly get rid of everything. Yes, even my beloved snail mucin.

Once I learned what actually did and did not work for my skin, I brought the CosRx mucin back into my life since it has the highest concentration at 96%.(

Last year, when my skin’s barrier was compromised, the snail stuff proved to be something that deserved top billing in my routine.

It was one of only 4 things I was able to put on my face without feeling like my face was on fire.

Beyond that, I am convinced that when I’m using this product my skin is more supple, the texture is more even, and my skin retains more moisture.

Skin type: normal, combo

So how do I use it? This has replaced plain old hyaluronic acid in my routine. I basically pat dry my face leaving it slightly damp before I go ahead and slap this stuff on before another serum or my moisturizer, then an oil.

If I’m using my Paula’s choice toner or Face Theory Niacinimide toner, I’ll apply my toner after cleansing on a less damp (closer to dry) face then follow up with the snail filtrate before going on to the next step(s).

You know when you love something so much you wanna keep it close to the chest but then also wanna sing about it like Oprah told us about her love for bread?

Yeah. It’s kinda like that.

The claims (from the CosRx website):

Snail Mucin
96.3% of Snail Secretion Filtrate helps protect the skin from moisture loss while improving skin elasticity. Snail mucin helps repair and soothes red, sensitive skin after breakouts by replenishing moisture.

  • Lightweight Essence
Lightweight, yet moisturizing texture gives you long-lasting hydration without feeling heavy on the skin.

  • Cruelty-Free
COSRX is a cruelty-free brand and we do not test on animals. Our snail mucin products are also 100% cruelty-free which caused no harm to animals throughout the making process.

Here are some key ingredients straight from Ulta:

  • Sodium Hyaluronate: A form of hyaluronic acid that dramatically boosts skin moisture.

  • Arginine: An amino acid with antioxidant properties that supports elasticity.

Look all I’m saying is I love it. I’ve never been gifted a bottle, and I’m pretty sure CosRx doesn’t know we’re in a serious relationship. If you end trying it, remember to keep one in stock for me.
